Data Management Issue
16. Recruitment data base does not report on employment history - Pending October 11, 2007
Status - 3/10/08- Please place on Park/Hold until some future date, say 1/31/2010 as there isn't really an active issue to tackle yet
Monty Young, George Domboski, and Jen Martens met on this subject briefly last month. Monty gave a summary of data mining tools and techniques being used by other universities to research and report data regarding recruitments including applicants and selections. Monty was curious about availability of tools that might be used to provide insight into that type of data being stored.
Jen explained that a lot of that data is collected and stored within the HRSearch tool. Additionally, she stated that the Provost office has access to all open and closed searches with respect to Academic arenas. She also explained that at the present time there is not any ad-hoc query or reporting mechanisms to get at the data for mining.
Elora asked Monty if the Provost area has a list of specific data needs or some kind of report they are looking for or if there is any project timeline for the requests. Monty explained that there were no such specifics at this time, just a curiosity of what UNLV has available with the forethought to keep in mind that the Provost area is interested in this type of mining possibilities should tools, time and talent be directed in those areas.
2/10/2008 -- This DGCouncil issue is still pending. Elora has asked to bring George Dombroski, Director of Employment and Compensation, and Jen Martens, Manager of Employment into the community of interested and most knowledgeable members with respect to recruitment data. Which, incidentally, is possibly stored in an application called HRSearch.
Elora will call a meeting for the interested parties before our next data governance council meeting in March. This will allow the community of interested parties to analyze this issue in further detail and gain more understanding of needs.
