Data Management Issue

6. Computer Inventory submitted by Administrator

Status - Submitted October 11, 2007

Update - November 9

Rick Storlie, Frank Lucas and Don Diener met to discuss the issue at 9:00 a.m. on November 9. (Gwenn Pons was unavailable.) Don described the database maintained by OIT and Rick and Frank described the TMA implementation and plans for its extension. It was agreed that collaboration on computer inventory would offer a number of benefits. Don said he would begin discussions within OIT. Frank and Rick offered to conduct a demonstration when OIT is ready.

February, 2008

OIT has decided not to pursue that option at this time. The prevailing view is that we do not have the personnel to devote to considering or implementing any changes at this time.

Desc of Issue: Computer Inventory,

Description of this data issue: Advantage does not quite meet needs for computer inventory, requiring IT to keep a parallel data base to use for their equipment repair group to use.

Comment - TMA work control software can be implemented across multiple repair centers. If IT wishes to use the TMA software for tracking work/repair requests for computers, it could be accomplished with the purchase of additional seats.
